Stephanie: Yeah, to fax a form or contract you need a scanner. Pam Fax can take input directly from the scanner, though, so you don't need to scan it in first, save it, and then upload it into PamFax -- you just start PamFax and it asks where you want to get your source from.

I don't know if a fax machine would work, though I suppose there's no reason someone couldn't make a Skype-enabled fax machine that would connect to your network. But a regular fax machine would need some way to get the scanned doc to your PC, and I can't see how it would do that.

Great information to have!

Question about faxing - if you're returning a signed contract and are using PamFax through Skype, I'm assuming you must scan the contract first, right?

I wonder if there's a way to use an actual fax machine with SkypeOut.

As someone taking classes online the Skype webcam feature is nice as it allows me to communicate with TAs in my classes. I can easily show the TA work I have done on a problem and get their input.

My son uses Skype like crazy, but I hadn't really thought of it as something useful for myself until now. Thanks for the info!
